Paul Ryan recently tried to stop all attempts at impeaching Rosenstein. “Do I support impeachment of Rod Rosenstein? No, I do not,” said Ryan in a speech.
“I do not for a number of reasons. First, I don’t think we should be cavalier with this process or with this term. Number one. Number two, I don’t think that this rises to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors, a really high standard. Number three, involved, have been getting a lot of compliance from DOJ on the document request. We do not have full compliance, and we have to get full compliance. But we’ve been making tremendous progress to that point,” he said.
However, Paul Ryan is not going to be seeking re-election as Speaker of the House. Now Jim Jordan is standing up. He wants to take Ryan’s position as speaker and he wants to impeach Rosenstein.
“Should the American people entrust us with the majority again in the 116th Congress, I plan to run for Speaker of the House to bring real change to the House of Representatives. President Trump has taken bold action on behalf of the American people. Congress has not held up its end of the deal, but we can change that. It’s time to do what we said,” said Rosenstein in a speech.
He also helped introduce articles of impeachment against Rosenstein. “The DOJ is keeping information from Congress. Enough is enough. It’s time to hold Mr. Rosenstein accountable for blocking Congress’s constitutional oversight role,” said Rosenstein.
