More and more I think that J.R.R Tolkien was the greatest author to ever write in the English language – look at it this way, even Shakespeare had to rely on historical events for his masterpieces, and never actually created a whole world complete with mythology, races, and creatures.
Tolkien may have also been trying to warn us in a way through his LOTR series – it’s a little-known fact that he became quite radicalized later in life, and died a supporter of the British National Front and all it stood for.
But I always assumed his warnings were allegorical, and never for a second believed that devices like the mythical Palantiri were actual literal objects that could be used by the Jews to sow chaos throughout the Western World.
Orb memes and supernatural conspiracies are back with a vengeance after Benjamin Netanyahu and Emmanuel Macron were pictured grasping a strange glowing sphere between them.
The bizarre moment comes a year after an uncannily similar photo, featuring US President Donald Trump, Saudi King Salman and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, sparked witchcraft conspiracies across social media.
Netanyahu was in Paris to meet French President Macron for discussions about the Iran deal among other issues when he attended a gala in honor of 70 years of the State of Israel.
The function, held at the Grand Palais, marked the opening of the Israel-France Cross-Cultural Season and, inexplicably, included a glowing orb-like object which the leaders just had to get their hands on.
So in the Tolkien universe, the Palantiri were meant to be be used by the forces of good for viewing across space and time – but when seized by evil beings like Sauron, they became tools of domination and demoralization.
One in theory could only avoid being mentally broken by someone as strong as Sauron if of superhuman willpower and incorruptible morality – traits that are clearly not evident in our current rulers.
