During an MSNBC interview, host Ari Melber played a clip of Maxine Waters from 1998 calling Republicans ‘despicable’ for wanting to impeach Bill Clinton and pointed out how how Maxine Waters spends all her time trying to impeach President Trump.
“I am greatly disappointed in the raw, unmasked, unbridled hatred, and meanness that drives this impeachment coup d’etat. My Republican friends, what you do here today will long be remembered and recorded in history as one of the most despicable actions ever taken by the Congress of the United States of America,” said Maxine Waters in 1998.
Melber pointed out that many would make the same arguments against Maxine Waters for her calls to impeachment. Maxine Waters pointed out that Democrats are more “responsible” than Republicans for not calling for impeachment… even though she is calling for impeachment.
“I just want to tell you that the Democrats have been very very responsible and even saying to me that I should not be calling for impeachment. They have not taken a position as a Democratic caucus on this impeachment and they’ve said to me that, ‘let’s just talk about our issues, let’s not talk about him,’” said Waters.
“So Democrats have been terribly responsible, and again, I’m one of just a few who have insisted that he’s unworthy, that he’s deplorable, that he’s despicable, and he should be impeached,” said Waters.
