Joy Behar made headlines when she first accused Mike Pence’s Christian faith of being a ‘mental illness.’ “To have ABC maintain a broadcast forum that compared Christianity to mental illness is just wrong. It is simply wrong for ABC to have a television program that expresses that kind of religious intolerance,” explained Mike Pence in response.
Joy Behar never addressed her complaints on air. However, she did do it behind closed doors where no one could hear her. The only reason we know Behar made this apology was because ABC boss Bob Iger mentioned it at a shareholders meeting.
“She apologized to the vice president, he accepted and said he wasn’t offended by her comment for his own sake but on behalf of the millions of Christians who watch ABC and her show. He encouraged her to make the same apology publicly on the show that she did privately to him,” explained a White House insider according to Fox News.
“What do you say to the tens of millions of Christians, and President Trump supporters, that your networks have so blatantly offended and ascribed hateful labels? Specifically, do you think, like Mrs. Hostin and Mrs. Behar, that the Christian faith is akin to a dangerous mental illness?” asked shareholder Justin Danhof to Iger directly at the meeting.
“I don’t know where I start. First of all, Joy Behar apologized to Vice President Pence directly. She made a call to him and apologized, which I thought was absolutely appropriate,” explained Iger. Do you think Behar would apologize on air if she was truly sorry?
