Police were called to the Goodwill store in Muncie, Indian after a Muslim man attacked a female store clerk when she refused to convert to Islam.
Eye witness, Chasity Fraley was in the store at the time and told WISHtv that she saw the Muslim shopper, identified as 24-year-old Khalid Bilal, attack the clerk when she refused to follow his religious orders. “A guy had become very irate and was screaming at one of the employees and then grabbed him by the collar and start pushing him and screaming are you scared,” she said.
Finding herself and her 3 kids trapped in the store with no way out, she heard Bilal shout, “I’m going to kill everyone in here!” That’s when she moved to a different aisle and hid, but was able to still see the man physically attack the employee as well as a second worker who calmly stepped in to try to de-escalate the situation.
“He violently grabbed her around the neck and just was punching and whatever he could to her,” Fraley said as she described the attack on the female employee who tried to stop him from attacking her co-worker.
When police arrived Bilal charged at an officer, who then tasered him. After he was tased, the officer tried to handcuff him but Bilal started kicking him. He eventually had to be leg shackled, police said.
Fraley said that while the police were struggling with Bilal, he kept yelling “Allah Akbah.”
While still at the hospital two days later, Bilal attacked police again, hitting an officer in the face.
He is now facing the following charges:
- Battery with injury
- Battery with injury to police
- Disorderly conduct
- Battery with no injury to a law enforcement officer
- Resisting law enforcement
