California Governor Wants To Cut Student Funding!

Student Funding

The democrats have a strange way of rationalizing how they spent tax payers money, but this one even has the college kids scratching their heads.

California Governor Jerry Brown’s decisions to cut funding to middle-class students enrolled in college while at the same time increasing the funding for illegal immigrant students is drawing a lot of outrage and rightly so.

So far Brown has spent $25 billion into illegal immigrant programs while ignoring the problem at Oroville dam which has forced 200,000 people from their homes.

In the 2017-18 Governor’s Budget, details show Brown’s intention of phasing out the middle-class Scholarship program, which assists students who come from households with a combined income of $156,000 or less with 40 percent of their tuition costs.

The budget reads,

“Given the state’s overall financial condition, to continue the Administration’s support for long-term stable growth in funding…and to maintain the broad Cal Grant entitlement for the state’s neediest students, the Budget proposes a phase-out of the Middle-Class Scholarship Program,”

Simply put, Brown is not going to help American citizens who need this program, but he willing to increase the money spent on scholarships for illegal immigrants. While ending this scholarship program will save the state about $115 million a year by 2021.

California is facing economic ruin and increasing the amount of scholarship funding to illegal immigrants under the DREAM Act it won’t help.
