Last night, Trump arrived in Washington D.C. to start his inauguration weekend with a party attended by some of his donors.
The Daily Mail reported that Trump arrived at the Reagan National Airport with Kellyanne Conway around 8 p.m. Trump and Conway went to the Chairman’s Global Dinner, also attended by diplomats, donors, politicians, and Broadway performers.
Trump remained at the party just a couple of hours, as he flew off from the airport to return back to NY City. Trump intended to leave 10 minutes earlier but the airport personnel had some problems with detaching the stairs of his plane.
At the dinner party many eminent figures were present. Out of the 500 people, 300 were major Trump donors, and about 150 were diplomats. Among the most notable people there were, Jeff Sessions, Rudy Giuliani, Jon Voight, casino tycoon Steve Wynn, Michael Flynn, and Ron Dermer, the Israeli ambassador to the U.S.
The president-elect addressed the audience, starting off by expressing gratitude to his running mate Mike Pence.
“I had a couple of beauties I could have picked. But they were good too but maybe wouldn’t have worked out like Mike,” stated Trump. “So I want to thank Mike and Karen and I want to thank all of the people in the room. We have so many friends, 147 diplomats and investors, never been done before.”
Trump continued to commend the diplomats and his cabinet picks, most of all Rex Tillerson, his pick for Secretary of State.
“But I want to thank you all for being here. We have great respect for your countries, we have great respect for our world,” he continued. “We have a man that I wanted right from the beginning, Rex Tillerson. Now these lights are bright but he’s around here some place. Where’s our Rex? Wow. What a job.”
“I think it’s tougher than he thought. He’s led this charmed life. He goes into a country, takes the oil, goes into another country,” he added. “It’s tough dealing with these politicians, right? He’s going to be so incredible. And I’m very proud, I’m very proud of everybody, the cabinet members.”
