John Lewis said last week that he thinks Trump will not be a “legitimate president” due to the recent allegations of the Russian interference in U.S. affairs.
Well Trump has one prominent supporter in Alveda C. King, a niece of Dr. King’s, and she had this to say.
“I pray that all polar opposites learn to Agape Love, live and work together as brothers and sisters — or perish as fools,” she explained. “While I voted for Mr. Trump, my confidence remains in God, for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Prayers for President-elect Trump, Congressman Lewis, and everyone including leaders.”
She also discussed Lewis’ comments in on Monday on Fox News’ Fox and Friends.
“Well I actually admire Congressman Lewis’ legendary legacy of civil rights and working with my uncle, ML, in the civil rights movement of the 20th century, and so I believe he should stay on that track, nonviolent conflict resolution,” King said. “I believe that Congressman Lewis can actually help America by working with the president so that nonviolent conflict resolution — one blood of the Bible, Jesus Christ encouraging us to be brothers and sisters and not adversarial — Congressman Lewis should be one of the best teachers of that.”
She went on to say, “If anybody in America is fearful and tearful, pray together. Let’s just pray. That’s what my uncle would do today.”

Some black political figures are planning to boycott Trump’s inauguration on Friday, Lewis is one of them.
In a discussion with NBC News’ Chuck Todd, the longtime Georgia congressman from said, “I don’t see this president-elect as a legitimate president. … I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton. I don’t plan to attend the inauguration. It will be the first one that I miss since I’ve been in the Congress.”
Todd asked Lewis how he work with the president-elect given that opinion.
“Well, it’s going to be very hard and very difficult. Almost impossible for me to work with him,” Lewis answered.
