Democratic Georgia Rep. John Lewis said that Trump’s inauguration will be the first he will be skipping as a lawmaker but that’s NOT TRUE!
Clearly he must be going senile as he forgot to mention that he was a no show at the 2001 Inauguration of George W. Bush, and for very same the same reason he is giving to skip Trump’s inauguration.
After this video came out, Fox News Business anchor Trish Regan presented a 2001 excerpt from the Washington Post.
WaPo wrote in 2001:
John Lewis, for instance, spent [inauguration] day in his Atlanta district. He thought it would be hypocritical to attend Bush’s swearing-in because he doesn’t believe Bush is the true elected president.
During his Sunday interview with “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd, Lewis gave an explanation for his decision to boycott Trump’s inauguration:
“You know, I believe in forgiveness. I believe in trying to work with people. It will be hard. It’s going to be very difficult. I don’t see this president-elect as a legitimate president.”
This guy needs to be retired!
But, Donald Trump said a few words on this:
Lewis used this opportunity. Profits, people. His office released a fundraising letter to his supporters:
What do you think about Lewis and other Democrats who skip the inauguration?
