U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has been drawing heat after his anti Israeli speech, specifically there decision to build settlements in Jerusalem and West Bank. NBC News reported that a Theresa May said that Kerry failed to achieve whatever he had planned to during his lengthy speech, since he only focused on the Israeli settlements and overlooked other important issues.
It’s interesting to note that the UK supported the U.S. in the anti-Israeli resolution, but they still decided to alert Kerry that he made a pointless speech.
“We do not believe that the way to negotiate peace is by focusing on only one issue,” said May’s spokesperson. “And we do not believe that it is appropriate to attack the composition of the democratically elected government of an ally.”
Responding to this, the U.S. Department of State said, “We are surprised by the U.K. Prime Minister’s office statement,” the US State Department said, adding that Kerry’s comments “were in line with the U.K.’s own longstanding policy and its vote at the United Nations.”
The U.S. Secretary of State’s speech resulted in heavy criticism, and even leftist media like the Washington Post severely rebuked Kerry’s comments, labeling the address was “long” and “condescending” and condemned the “Israel-bashing” Obama government for this mayhem.
