Yesterday The Radio City Rockettes announced that they would be performing at President Donald Trump’s inauguration. Now one of those Rockettes is having a hissy fit and made it known on her Instagram.
Phoebe Pearl posted that she was “embarrassed and disappointed” to be part of the celebration posting, “I usually don’t use social media to make a political stand but I feel overwhelmed with emotion.”
“Finding out that it has been decided for us that Rockettes will be performing at the Presidential inauguration makes me feel embarrassed and disappointed.”
“The women I work with are intelligent and are full of love and the decision of performing for a man that stands for everything we’re against is appalling,” she went on to post.
“I am speaking for just myself but please know that after we found out this news, we have been performing with tears in our eyes and heavy hearts #notmypresident”
Earlier in the day, the Rockettes’ owner, MSG Entertainment, released a statement that they were “honored” to have been asked to perform at the festivities. The organization did not immediately respond to a request for comment early Friday.
According to Broadwayworld.com, the Rockettes were sent an email by their union that told them they were not able to “boycott” the event.
“Everyone is entitled to her own political beliefs, but there is no room for this in the workplace,” the email read.
“If you are not full time, you do not have to sign up to do this work. If you are full time, you are obligated.”
Trump posted this message on his twitter; “The so-called ‘A’ list celebrities are all wanting tixs to the inauguration, but look what they did for Hillary, NOTHING. I want the PEOPLE!”
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir will also be playing at the celebration…they accepted honorably.
This is her Facebook page if you’d like to learn more about her, after the news went viral she made her Instagram account private .
