The Dems keep shouting “Russia hacked the election,” but nobody hacked Podesta. And the Democratic National Committee wasn’t hacked either.
The Daily Caller reports, John Podesta and the DNC were tricked into opening way to their email accounts. We’ll help you understand how this “hack” happened.
Podesta received a spear phishing email that resembled an email that represents an official communication with Google. The ex-Representative was “told” that someone tried to change his password. “Google stopped this sign-in attempt. You should change your password immediately.” The email ended with a link labeled as “Change Password,” which was a perfect way to lure the user into providing their password.
One of Clinton’s aides had a full access to Podesta’s account. The email was considered legitimate after Charles Delevan, the IT aide, checked it. “This is a legitimate email,” Delevan wrote to Sara Latham, the aide, and provided a link to a legitimate Google page designed to change the password. “John needs to change his password immediately.”
Latham sent an email to Milia Fisher, another aide. Fisher changed the password, and it’s still unclear if it was Milia or Latham that clicked the phishing email link. They reached a fake page that gave the attacker Podesta’s password.
In an interview for The New York Times, Delevan expressed his shock regarding the huge mistake that helped attackers get tens of thousands emails. Dozens of phishing emails were sent to officials during the campaign, and Delevan admitted that he was aware that this is one of them. He typed “legitimate” by mistake, and this “plagued him.”
The same thing happened with the DNC, and it brought the resignation of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz as DNC chair.
The technology director at the DNC said that cybersecurity wasn’t flooded with resources, although they were well aware that hackers were sneaking around. “There was never enough money to do everything we needed to do,” Andrew Brown said in an interview for The New York Times.
Let’s make it clear. Russia never hacked the accounts and the elections. Both Podesta and the DNC were tricked to “give” their passwords.
Now that we know what happened, do you thin the Democrats will stop their worthless fight? Will this affect the situation out there, and convince people that they were wrong all the time?
