The Obama legacy is coming to an end! As World News Politics reported, Congress is using the Congressional Review Act to shut down the orders Obama made in his final days. All Trump will have to do is sign the bill to undue Obama’s legacy.
This law was last used in 2001, and it was the only time it was ever used. It eliminated a workplace safety rule which was releases in the last months of Bill Clinton.
The Republicans are now planning to use this rule for the second time: “We plan to robustly use the Congressional Review Act to reverse the midnight regulations of Barack Obama,” said Wyoming Republican John Barrasso.
“His legacy is lost. The American people said ‘No, we don’t want that. We want to change direction.”
That is how failing presidents end.
This prevents the release of rules that resemble the ones that have already been rejected. Curtis Copeland, one of Washington’s foremost experts on the Congressional Review Act explained,
“This is a legislative tool that salts the earth behind it.”
That’s what Republican Congress strives for – to erase Obama’s failed legacy.
“If they don’t want climate change regulations to be issued in the future, what better way than using the Congressional Review Act,” explained Copeland.
