The Democrats simply won’t give up! They have this plan they call “The Hamilton Electors.”
Will this plan help them? Republican electors may “vote no,” but only Chris Suprun of Texas confirmed that he won’t vote for Trump.
Harvard constitutional law Professor Larry Lessig claims that 20 GOP electors are changing their mind, which means Trump won’t get their votes.
It will take 37 Republican electors to deny Trump’s victory.
Lessig would do the impossible to make this real. He even set up “a legal group ‘The Electors Trust’ to offer legal counsel to anti-Trump electors.”
Their plan “seeks to unite Republican and Democratic electors around a compromise Republican candidate and deny Trump 270 votes.”
This could happen because the election would end in the House of Representatives if one of the candidates gets 270 electoral votes.
The House of Representatives would hold something experts call a “contingent election.”
Lessig said that GOP electors will vote no only if they have the support of at least 37 defectors.
“There are some who will do it as a matter of principle; one has already said he will. But most will be in the situation where they won’t make that sacrifice unless there a reason to sacrifice,” explained the Harvard professor.
Lessig’s effort is something we should not underestimate.
Gary Bauer, the former Under Secretary of Education and Chief Domestic Policy Adviser to President Reagan, noted that “Professor Lessig is not just any Harvard leftist professor” and said that electors could cause “a political earthquake” on Monday.
According to Bauer, Lessig is “far left” and “well-connected,” and said he “has been providing free legal help to electors from states Trump won.” That’s a serious warning.
“At the same time as he is providing ‘counsel,’ Republican electors are reportedly being harassed 24 hour a day by left wing fanatics,” added Bauer.
“The harassment includes death threats that has left some of them fearful for themselves and their families. Sounds like hate crimes to me. Where is the Justice Department?”
Bauer believes that Republican National Committee has he situation under control.
The Hamilton Electors started their “campaign.” They tried to free up anti-Trump votes through the courts, filled a lawsuit to overturn the law in Colorado in an effort to make the state’s nine electors vote for a winner in their state.
It wasn’t just Colorado. California and Washington state did the same.
Democratic activist Daniel Brezenoff pulled out a full-page newspaper ads across America on Wednesday in an effort to urge Electoral College members to “vote their conscience.” Their only goal is to block the election of Trump.
The ads appeared in Washington Post, Philadelphia Inquirer, Austin American-Statesman, Salt Lake City Tribune and Tampa Bay Times, and will also appear in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Wisconsin State Journal on Thursday.
The ads reads that Trump’s “inauguration would present a grave and continual threat to the Constitution, to domestic tranquility and to international stability.”
Brezenoff launced a Change.org petition. He does his best to make the Electoral College pick Hillary Clinton.
“The petition went viral and is approaching 5 million signatures, the largest in Change.org’s history. He leveraged that list to raise about $250,000 through a GoFundMe page to support the ads. He said the newspaper campaign has exhausted virtually all of the funds raised,” wrote Politico.
The website reported, “Brezenoff said the ad campaign is designed to reach electors but also raise public pressure on them in states with large Democratic populations or widespread anti-Trump sentiment.”
Dems already claimed that Trump’s victory isn’t legitimate.
Christine Pelosi and her group of electors demand a briefing before Monday’s vote by the Electoral College. The details are still unclear.
According to the Hamilton Electors Russia is to be blamed.
“We now know that the Russian Government actively worked to elect Donald Trump. The Electoral College is our defense against this attack on our sovereignty,” stated the electors, noting that “The Electoral College must be our defense against Russia.”
Here’s what Limbaugh said about Lessig, “He is predicting at least 20 will abandon Trump. And we have come to find out that it is the White House and a Clinton PR firm that are behind the effort to convince Trump electors to abandon him.”
What will happen next? Will the electors go against people’s will?
And, if House leaders were to try to select a Republican other than Trump, it likely would not be without considerable political risk, because, of course, the vast ajority of their constituents voted for Trump.
