The Conservative Tribune reported that the Senate passed the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act with 92-7 on Thursday. This bill for $611 billion is to fund our military for 2017 and includes a pay hike for the troops.
The House passed the veto-proof bill which will boost the defense spending a bit over the amount Obama imagined, forestall scheduled base closings, stop the closure of the military detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, stop the reduction of troops, and increase troops’ salary they’ve been long waiting for.
The 2017 NDAA provides the highest military pay rise in 6 years. It may happen on January 1.
This 2.1 percent rise is higher than Obama’s 1.6, and higher than the 1.3 percent raise American troops got this year.
The bill also involves military health care system and acquisition.
“With today’s overwhelming 92-7 vote in the Senate, the NDAA has now passed the Congress with veto-proof majorities in both houses,” stated Sen. John McCain and Rep. Mac Thornberry, heads of the Senate and House Armed Services Committees. “This legislation marks another important step toward reforming our defense enterprise to meet current and future threats.”
“Building on this year’s NDAA, the Senate and House Armed Services Committees will continue to champion the cause of defense reform in the new Congress,” read the statement with a reference to the expected agenda of Trump.
The President threatened to put a veto on any defense spending bill that doesn’t fit his request, but nothing goes in favor of your hopes, Obama.
This bill will sure frustrate Obama, but it’s time for changes, remember? Do you think we’re on a good way to make a few of these?
