Trump’s victory was Obama’s worst nightmare. And now he decided to spend the last months of his presidency trying to stop Trump from destroying his legacy.
Political Reviewer reported, President Obama called Trump early Wednesday, and invited him for a meeting. Maybe to try and convince Trump to keep his initiative “alive.”
“From the White House residence, the president phoned Donald Trump to congratulate him on his victory early this morning,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest stated. “The president invited the president-elect to meet with him at the White House on Thursday, November 10th, to update him on the transition planning his team has been working on for nearly a year.”
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was in charge of Trump’s transition team, but we don’t know for sure how much time he spent communicating with the White House.
“Ensuring a smooth transition of power is one of the top priorities the president identified at the beginning of the year and a meeting with the president-elect is the next step,” Earnest said.
Earnest didn’t care much about the details, but Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway gave us the juicy information about the call. Conway said they talked until the “wee hours” Wednesday. Obama called Trump during his victory’s speech, “so the call was missed at first.” Trump called Obama right right after that.
“Timing is everything,” Conway stated. “And of course (Trump) called him immediately when he knew that…that was also a very cordial conversation among — you know, between two men who had been at battle, frankly.”
Conway noted that the President-elect is “very excited for that meeting” with Obama.
“Mr. Trump looks forward to going down to the White House and meeting with President Obama and having a smooth transition,” she added.
Obama has to learn how to swallow his pride, and Trump just got his five minutes.
What do you think about this meeting? Any guess about to topics they are gonna talk about?
