Trump Did It! Carrier Is Going To Stay In Indianapolis!

Carrier Is Going To Stay In Indianapolis!

President Obama mocked President-elect Trump on the Carrier Corp. issue in June. The employees were about to get fired, as the corporation announced its shift from Indiana to Mexico. At that time Obama said that business failures in Indiana are on the rise.

In February, the President-elect criticized the company’s intention to move to Mexico. How did he do it? Trump threatened to tax Carrier products made in Mexico and imported in the States. Of course, if he gets elected. And he won the elections. Obviously.

What made Trump make this step? On June 1, in the town hall in Indianapolis, Eric Cottonham, a Carrier employee had a question for Obama “What can we look forward to in the future as far as jobs, employment, whatever? Because all of our jobs have left or in the process of leaving, sir,” said Eric.

Obama defended with a contradiction, and managed to note that during his presidency, “we’ve seen more manufacturing jobs created since I’ve been president than anytime since the 1990s.” Obama also added, “even though we’re making the same amount of stuff in our manufacturing sector, we’re employing fewer people.”

He also spoke about the job shifts in Mexico, noting that the job leaving trend will never ever appear on the American economic landscape.

“What we have to do is to make sure that folks are trained for the jobs that are coming in now because some of those jobs of the past are just not going to come back,” he explained.

As Western Journalism reports, Obama turned towards Trump and his assurance that he’d bring profitable jobs back in the country.

” … when somebody says, like the person you just mentioned who I’m not going to advertise for, that he’s going to bring all these jobs back, well how exactly are you going to do that? What are you going to do?”

“There’s — there’s no answer to it,” Obama added.

Obama tried t convince people that Trump is unable to retain good jobs in the United States.

“He just says, ‘Well, I’m going to negotiate a better deal.’ Well, how — what — how exactly are you going to negotiate that? What magic wand do you have? And usually, the answer is he doesn’t have an answer,” Obama argued.

The president mentioned something about “living with the loss.” Did he learn how to live with it?

” … you cannot look backwards, and that doesn’t make folks feel good sometimes, especially if it’s a town that was reliant on a couple of big manufacturers,” Obama said. “But they’re going to have to retrain for the jobs of the future, not the jobs of the past.”

This Thursday, Trump and Pence will meet Carrier officials. Together they will announce that 1,000 of the Indianapolis employees will keep their jobs.
